WHAT WE CHECK
Your headline numbers
Mention rate is the share of AI answers that name your brand. Share of voice is your mentions out of all tracked brand mentions. Average position shows where you appear among other brands, where 1 means first. Use the engine filter to compare AI Overviews and AI Mode, and set how many recent runs are averaged so old results do not hide new gains. The prompt table shows where you are losing and to whom.
Share of voice
Your mention rate by prompt
Your outreach list
Every domain Google’s AI cited in your answers. Sites with a high gap are trusted for your topic but currently help competitors, so getting listed there is the fastest way to earn mentions. Open Pages to see the exact URLs to pitch.
Cited domains
Check uncertain matches
Brands named after everyday words can match by mistake. Each match is shown in its sentence: Confirm counts it, Reject removes it from every stat. The number on the tab shows how many are waiting.
Review queue
Collect AI answers
Sends every prompt to the selected engines through your Apify token. Run each prompt about 5 times, since AI answers change between runs. Results save as they arrive, so stopping early keeps what you have. Runs that show no AI Overview are logged and left out of your stats.
Run prompts
Import a result manually
Paste raw JSON from any scraper to test parsing without spending credits.
What to track
Prompts are the questions your buyers type into Google. Use real buying questions such as “best X for Y” or “X alternatives”, and group them by topic to compare product lines. Deleting a prompt also deletes its results.
Add prompts
One prompt per line. Write them the way a buyer would ask Google.
Your prompts
Who to measure
Add your brand and the competitors you want to compare against. Mark exactly one as yours, since the dashboard is built around it. Aliases catch other spellings, domains and short names. Changes re-score all past results automatically.
Add a brand
Aliases are comma separated. Start an alias with = to match exact case only. Mark brands named after common words as ambiguous to review their matches.

Set up the tracker
Start here. Paste your Apify API token, check that each engine’s actor ID and input template match the actor on Apify, and export a backup regularly, since your data lives only in this browser.
Apify API token
Stored only in this browser. Never sent to SiteAuditLint.
Find it in Apify Console under Settings, API and integrations. Avoid saving it on shared computers.
Engines
Each engine is an Apify actor ID (with ~) plus an input template where %query% is replaced by the prompt. Check each actor’s Input tab for its exact fields.

HOW IT WORKS
From buyer prompts to a citation outreach list
The tracker sends your prompts to Google AI Overviews and AI Mode through an Apify scraper, records the answer a real searcher sees, and scores every brand mention and cited source.
Add prompts and brands
List the questions your buyers ask, then add your brand and competitors with aliases so multi-word and look-alike names match correctly.
Run each prompt several times
AI answers change between runs, so the tracker repeats each prompt and averages mention rate, share of voice and position.
Work the citation gaps
The citations report ranks the domains Google’s AI cites when it names competitors but skips you. Those pages are your placement targets.
WHAT THE TRACKER MEASURES
The AI search visibility metrics that matter
Generative engine optimization needs different metrics than rank tracking. There is no position 1 in an AI answer, only whether you are mentioned, how early, and which sources earned the citation.
Brand mention rate
The share of AI answers that name your brand for a prompt. Averaged across repeated runs, so one lucky answer does not skew the number.
Share of voice
Your mentions as a share of all tracked brand mentions. It shows whether Google’s AI favors you or a competitor in your category.
Average position
Where your brand first appears relative to other brands in the answer. Being named first in a list carries more weight than being named fifth.
Cited domains
Every URL the AI Overview or AI Mode answer cites, grouped by domain, with the number of prompts and pages behind each one.
Citation gap score
Counts citations in answers where a competitor appears and you do not. Listicles and review sites with high gap scores are the fastest wins.
Alias matching and review
Brand aliases, exact-case rules and a review queue stop false matches on brands named after everyday words.
FREE TRACKER VS PAID AI VISIBILITY TOOLS
The same core data, without the subscription
Paid LLM visibility platforms add dashboards, teams and more engines. If you mainly need Google AI Overview and AI Mode tracking with citation data, scraped answers at cents per prompt cover it. Pair the citation list with a technical site audit so the pages you earn links to are crawlable.
| What you get | AI Visibility Tracker | Typical paid tool |
|---|---|---|
| Price | Free, you pay Apify per query | Monthly subscription |
| Answers from the live search experience | ✓ Scraped, not API | Varies by tool |
| Cited sources and gap report | ✓ Included | Often on higher plans |
| Your data stays private | ✓ Stored in your browser | Stored on vendor servers |

Paid tool features and pricing vary by provider and plan. Apify actor prices are set by each actor’s developer.
FAQ
AI visibility tracking questions
Why scrape answers instead of using the Gemini API?
The model API does not return what a searcher sees in AI Overviews or AI Mode. Live answers use Google’s search index, show different sources and change with location. Google offers no official API for AI Overview content, so scraping the results page is the only way to track it.
How much does a run cost?
Apify actors for AI Overviews and AI Mode typically cost around half a cent to one cent per query, and Apify’s free plan includes monthly platform credit. Fifty prompts run five times on two engines is 500 queries.
Why run the same prompt more than once?
AI answers are not deterministic. The same prompt can name different brands minutes apart, so a single answer is noise. Averaging five or more runs gives a stable mention rate and share of voice.
Does every search show an AI Overview?
No. Google shows AI Overviews only for some queries. The tracker records those runs as “no AI answer” and leaves them out of mention rates. AI Mode returns an answer for almost every prompt, so it is the steadier signal.
How do I get mentioned more in Google’s AI answers?
Start with the citations report. Get your brand included on the listicles, review pages and comparison articles the AI already cites for your prompts, keep your own pages crawlable and clear about what you offer, and track whether your mention rate moves.
Is my data or API token stored by SiteAuditLint?
No. Prompts, brands, results and your Apify token are saved in your browser’s storage and requests go straight from your browser to Apify. Use Export backup to keep a copy, since clearing browser data deletes it.
