Q: How do I update to a new version?

Use Help > Check for Updates in the app, download the new version, and replace the old folder or run the new installer. Audit history carries over automatically.

Download, unzip and start the desktop SEO auditor on Windows 10 or 11, including the first-run Python setup and the installer version.

SiteAud!tLint runs entirely on your own PC. There is no account to create and no server crawls your site for you, so the only things it needs are the app files and an internet connection for the crawl itself.

Option 1: the Windows installer

If you received SiteAuditLint-Setup.exe (or a file ending in -windows-x64-setup.exe), double-click it and follow the wizard. The installer adds a Start menu shortcut and bundles everything the app needs, including Python, so there is nothing else to set up.

Option 2: the zip folder

Unzip the folder anywhere, for example Desktop\tools. When Windows asks where to extract, choose the parent folder (for example C:\Users\You\Desktop\tools) so you do not end up with a folder inside a folder.
Double-click Start SiteAuditLint.bat.
The first start sets itself up. It creates a private Python environment in a .venv folder and installs the libraries the crawler and window need. This takes a few minutes and needs internet. After that, the app opens straight away.

The setup needs Python 3.10 or newer. If it is missing, the window asks you to install Python 3.12 from python.org. During that install, tick Add python.exe to PATH, then run the .bat file again.

Start from PowerShell instead

Inside the app folder:

python run_app.py

If you start the app this way rather than with the .bat file, also run this once so Slack, Linear and AI model keys are kept in Windows Credential Manager:

Frequently asked questions

Does SiteAud!tLint need an internet connection?

Only to crawl. The site you audit is fetched from your computer, and results are saved locally. The first run of the zip version also needs internet to install its libraries.

Can I install it on more than one computer?

Your license terms decide that. Audits are stored per computer, so a second PC starts with an empty history.
