AI visibility: mentions and citations

Check whether ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and Perplexity mention and cite your brand for the questions customers ask, and which sites they cite instead.

Improve > AI Visibility asks AI assistants the questions your customers ask, with web search on, and records whether each answer mentions your brand and cites your site. It is a Full Package feature, billed to your own AI provider accounts.

Set up the models

In Settings > Connections > AI models, paste an API key for any of:

ModelKey fromDefault model
ChatGPTOpenAIgpt-5-mini
GeminiGoogle AI Studiogemini-flash-latest
ClaudeAnthropicclaude-haiku-4-5-20251001
PerplexityPerplexitysonar

Click Test keys, then Save. Leave Model name empty for the default, or type another model the provider offers.

Run a check

  1. Pick the site and enter the brand names people use, plus optional competitors (names or domains).
  2. Enter up to 50 prompts, one per line, written the way a customer would ask, for example "best running shoes for flat feet". Leave your brand out: the point is whether AI brings you up on its own.
  3. Choose models and runs per prompt (1 to 3; answers vary, so 2 is a good default).
  4. Check the cost estimate and click Run check. It runs in the background, and Stop keeps the answers so far.

Read the results

  • Headline: cited in X of Y answers, with the change since the last check, and mentioned in Z.
  • By prompt: each model's result, such as Cited #2 (2/2), Mentioned or Not mentioned.
  • By model: cited and mentioned rates, average citation position and any errors.
  • Cited sites: every domain the answers cited, ranked. This is who wins your prompts.
  • Your cited pages: which of your pages are cited, with critical issues and warnings from the latest audit.
  • Competitors: how often each is mentioned and cited.

"Mentioned" means a brand name appears as a whole word. "Cited" means your domain or a subdomain is among the sources. API answers are close to, but not the same as, the consumer apps, and change between runs, so read the numbers as a trend.

Cost

Roughly US$0.01 to $0.04 per answer depending on the model (prompts x models x runs). Check each provider's pricing for exact rates. A failed answer, for example a bad key or no credit, is recorded with the reason and never stops the rest of the check.

Scheduled checks

Tick Include an AI visibility check in scheduled audits, at most every N days (default 7). Scheduled runs with --notify then check each site that has prompts, and Slack gets an AI visibility line plus the prompts where you are not cited. Audits run in the app window never start a paid check on their own.
