What stood out
Overall assessment
airbnb.com returned clean status codes and strong indexing signals. 95 of 98 analyzed pages carry self-referencing canonicals and hreflang, the three noindex pages are sign-up, referral and /homes, and 75 pages use question-led headings.
The largest findings come from the city stays templates that make up most of the crawl. Listing cards render images without alt attributes, descriptions run 190 to 214 characters, and pages sit between 506 and 747 KB of HTML.
Two items deserve a closer look. The homepage and /experiences returned identical content and share a title with /help and /services, and 76 of 100 URLs took longer than one second, with a median of 1,132 ms among them.
Audit methodology
SiteAuditLint started from the website's homepage and crawled up to 100 URLs by following discoverable internal links and the URLs listed in the XML sitemap. Results represent the URLs reached during the crawl and do not constitute a complete audit of the entire website.

Technical SEO scorecard
Scores are the category scores SiteAuditLint calculates as part of its Site Health Score.
| Area | Score | Key finding |
|---|---|---|
| Overall health | 94 | Excellent rating from SiteAuditLint |
| Technical | 95 | Homepage and /experiences return identical content |
| Content | 97 | 2 exact duplicate pages |
| Performance | 84 | 76 slow responses, 80 pages over 500 KB |
| AEO | 96 | 6 of 9 AI crawlers allowed, no llms.txt |
Major findings
1. Listing images without alt attributes
MediumFinding: 92 pages contain images with no alt attribute. City stays pages typically leave 11 to 19 listing images without one.
Why it matters: Alt text describes images to screen readers and gives search engines context for image results. Listing photos are the main content on these pages.
| URL | Evidence |
|---|---|
https://www.airbnb.com/athens-greece/stays/condos | 18 of 78 images |
https://www.airbnb.com/wilmington-nc/stays/cottages | 19 of 74 images |
https://www.airbnb.com/ | 1 of 9 images |
Recommended fix: Generate alt text in the listing card component from the listing title and location.
2. Slow server responses
MediumFinding: 76 of 100 URLs took longer than 1,000 ms. The median among them was 1,132 ms and the slowest was 1,757 ms.
Why it matters: The overruns are modest per page but cover most of the site, which affects both visitors and crawl rate.
| URL | Result |
|---|---|
https://www.airbnb.com/ | 1,128 ms |
https://www.airbnb.com/amsterdam-netherlands/stays/houses | 1,136 ms |
Recommended fix: Review edge caching on the city stays template.
3. Homepage content duplicated on /experiences
MediumFinding: https://www.airbnb.com/ and https://www.airbnb.com/experiences returned identical content. Those two pages share a title with /help and /services. /help also has no meta description.
Why it matters: When pages share content and titles, search engines choose one to show. Four distinct sections sharing one title is usually a template default.
| URL | Evidence |
|---|---|
https://www.airbnb.com/experiences | Same content as homepage |
https://www.airbnb.com/help | Title shared with 3 pages, no description |
Recommended fix: Give each section its own title and check what /experiences serves to non-rendering clients.
4. Long meta descriptions
LowFinding: 70 meta descriptions exceed 160 characters, most between 197 and 214. 17 titles exceed 60 characters, including the homepage at 74.
Why it matters: Text past these lengths is usually cut off. Because the pattern comes from one template, a single change covers most pages. See on-page SEO checks.
| URL | Description length |
|---|---|
https://www.airbnb.com/amsterdam-netherlands/stays/houses | 214 characters |
https://www.airbnb.com/barcelona-spain/stays/villas | 202 characters |
Recommended fix: Shorten the city stays description pattern.
5. Large HTML documents
LowFinding: 80 pages exceed 500 KB of HTML, between 506 and 747 KB. The homepage is 659 KB.
Why it matters: Large documents take longer to parse, especially on mobile.
Recommended fix: Reduce inlined state data in the listing templates.
6. AI crawler access split
LowFinding: robots.txt blocks GPTBot, ClaudeBot and Applebot-Extended. It allows OAI-SearchBot, ChatGPT-User, Claude-SearchBot, PerplexityBot, Google-Extended and CCBot. No llms.txt was found.
Why it matters: The pattern blocks some training agents while allowing search agents. CCBot, a training crawler, is allowed. See AEO / GEO audit.
Recommended fix: Confirm the CCBot rule matches the intended policy.

Audit limitations
The crawl was limited to 100 URLs and started from the homepage, so only URLs discovered through internal links and the XML sitemap are represented. A 100-URL crawl does not represent the entire website. Findings reflect the site at the time of the crawl on October 4, 2026. SiteAuditLint analyzed the HTML returned by the server, so content added later by JavaScript and responses that differ for automated clients may not match what a browser shows. This audit evaluates technical observations, not overall business or search performance.
SiteAuditLint reported no analytics or tag manager in the raw HTML. Tracking loaded by scripts after the initial response would not appear in this check, so that result is not treated as a finding here.
