Custom Search lets you define your own checks. Add up to 10 rules in Settings and SiteAuditLint reports which pages contain, or do not contain, each text string or regular expression.

Every site has checks no generic tool knows about: a legacy domain that must never be linked, a noindex left over from staging, a cookie banner that must be on every page. Custom Search runs your own patterns against the raw source of every crawled page.

1. Rule types

ModeReportsExample use
Contains (text)Pages that include the textFind staging.example.com links
Does not contain (text)Pages missing the textPages without your consent banner script
Contains (regex)Pages matching the patternUA-\d+-\d+ to find old Universal Analytics IDs
Does not contain (regex)Pages with no matchPages lacking a price in schema

2. Useful patterns

staging\. leftover staging links
noindex robots tags on the wrong template
lorem ipsum placeholder copy
<iframe[^>]+youtube pages with embedded video
"@type":\s*"Product" product schema present

3. Adding a rule

  1. Open SettingsGo to the Custom Search section.
  2. Add a ruleEnter a name, the text or regex, and choose contains or does not contain.
  3. Run an auditRules run on every crawled HTML page.
  4. Review Custom SearchFilter and export matching pages.
Tracking IDs are automatic

You no longer need custom rules to find GTM or GA4 snippets. The Tracking & Pixels audit detects 24 tools and their IDs on its own.

Frequently asked questions

How many custom search rules can I add?

Up to 10 rules. Each rule is either plain text or a regular expression, and reports pages that contain it or pages that do not.

Where do results appear?

In the Custom Search view under Pages, one column per rule, with filters and CSV export.

Is regex syntax validated?

Invalid rules are skipped, so one broken pattern does not stop the others from running.
