SiteAuditLint comparisons
Sitebulb and Ahrefs are often shortlisted together, but they are different kinds of product. Sitebulb is a dedicated audit crawler: its whole job is to crawl a site and explain what is wrong with it. Ahrefs is a backlink and keyword research platform that includes a Site Audit tool. SiteAuditLint sits on the crawler side, with a one-time licence and a way to bring Ahrefs backlink data into a desktop audit.
So the real question is not which tool audits better. It is whether you need a deep on-page audit, off-site authority data, or both, and what you want to pay for each.

Sitebulb Hints vs Ahrefs issues: how each tool prioritises fixes
A crawl can return thousands of findings. What separates audit tools is how they tell you which ones matter.
Sitebulb is built around Hints. Each Hint is graded by importance, explains why it matters, and links to documentation, which makes Sitebulb popular for audits that a less technical stakeholder has to read. Hints are where most of Sitebulb's value sits, and they go deeper than the issue lists in suite-based audit tools.
Ahrefs Site Audit groups findings into errors, warnings and notices with a health score per project. It covers the standard technical checks well, but it is designed as one tool inside a research platform rather than as the centre of the product.
SiteAuditLint turns every finding into a work list. The Action Plan ranks each fix by impact, effort, and the number of affected URLs, and it exports to CSV so it can go straight to a developer or client. A severity level (critical, warning, opportunity) sits behind each of the 76 issue types, and the Critical Issues view collects everything that breaks pages, links or indexing.

Domain Rating and backlink data: what a crawler cannot see
A crawler only sees your own site. It can tell you a page returns 404, but not that forty other websites link to it, or how authoritative those websites are. That off-site picture is what Ahrefs sells: its backlink index, referring domains, and metrics like Domain Rating (DR), which scores the strength of a site's backlink profile on a 0 to 100 scale.
Neither Sitebulb nor SiteAuditLint keeps a backlink index or calculates Domain Rating. If you need to research competitor link profiles, find link opportunities, or report authority trends, that is Ahrefs' job and no audit crawler replaces it.
Where the two meet is the audit itself. SiteAuditLint Pro can import an Ahrefs backlink export and flag pages that are broken, non-indexable or redirecting while still holding backlinks. The step-by-step workflow is covered in Screaming Frog vs Ahrefs vs SiteAuditLint.
Backlink data vs on-page audit: which one do you need?
Most teams don't need to choose between authority data and audit depth, but they do need to decide which one they pay a monthly fee for.
| If your main question is | Best fit | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Why is this site losing visibility after a redesign? | Sitebulb or SiteAuditLint | On-page and crawl problems: redirects, canonicals, internal links, rendering |
| Which competitor links could we win? | Ahrefs | Needs a backlink index and referring domain data |
| How strong is this domain compared with rivals? | Ahrefs | Domain Rating and referring domains over time |
| Which broken pages are wasting existing backlinks? | Ahrefs export plus SiteAuditLint Pro | Joins backlink data with live crawl status |
| Is our analytics and consent setup firing correctly? | SiteAuditLint | Built-in GA4, GTM, pixel and consent checks |
| Do AI assistants cite our pages? | SiteAuditLint Pro | AI Visibility check across ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and Perplexity |
Pricing: audit subscription, research suite, or one-time licence
Sitebulb
Lite; Pro about $42/month. 14-day trial
Desktop subscription, lower when billed annually. Cloud plans cost more.
Ahrefs
Lite, or $1,290/year billed annually
Research suite with Site Audit included, metered by crawl credits.
SiteAuditLint
Free edition: 100 URLs per audit
Pro licence with unlimited URLs. Agency is $159 once.
| Period | Sitebulb Pro (annual billing) | Ahrefs Lite (annual billing) | Sitebulb Pro plus Ahrefs Lite | SiteAuditLint Pro |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Year 1 | ~$420 | $1,290 | ~$1,710 | $99 |
| Year 3 total | ~$1,260 | $3,870 | ~$5,130 | $99 |
One user, list prices held constant. A common stack is Ahrefs for research plus a dedicated crawler for audits. Swapping the crawler subscription for a one-time licence changes the three-year total from about $5,130 to about $3,969.
Audit depth and crawl limits
Sitebulb caps URLs per audit by plan: 10,000 on Lite and 500,000 on Pro, with more possible on suitable hardware. Ahrefs limits crawling through monthly credits rather than per audit; how crawl credits add up is covered in a separate comparison. SiteAuditLint Pro has no URL cap, and the practical limit is your PC and the target server.
Beyond limits, SiteAuditLint 0.8.0 adds checks that neither Sitebulb nor Ahrefs Site Audit treats as a core report: analytics and pixel duplication, tracking before consent, missing llms.txt, AI crawlers blocked in robots.txt, and personal data in URLs. It also keeps every audit locally so the Compare view shows what changed since the last run.

Frequently asked questions
Is Sitebulb better than Ahrefs for site audits?
For technical audits, Sitebulb goes deeper. It is a dedicated audit crawler with graded Hints that explain each issue, while Ahrefs Site Audit is one tool inside a backlink and keyword research platform. Ahrefs is the stronger choice when backlink data and Domain Rating matter more than audit depth.
Does Sitebulb show backlinks or Domain Rating?
No. Sitebulb crawls your own website and does not maintain a backlink index or calculate Domain Rating. Ahrefs provides backlink data and Domain Rating.
Can I use Sitebulb and Ahrefs together?
Yes, and many SEO teams do: Ahrefs for backlink and keyword research, and a dedicated crawler for technical audits. SiteAuditLint can fill the crawler role for a one-time $99 and imports Ahrefs backlink exports into the audit.
What is Domain Rating in Ahrefs?
Domain Rating (DR) is an Ahrefs metric that scores the strength of a website's backlink profile on a 0 to 100 scale. Audit crawlers such as Sitebulb and SiteAuditLint do not calculate it.
How does SiteAuditLint prioritise fixes compared with Sitebulb Hints?
Sitebulb grades Hints by importance and explains each one. SiteAuditLint builds an Action Plan that ranks fixes by impact, effort, and the number of affected URLs, and exports it as CSV.
Which is cheapest over three years?
At list prices for one user, Sitebulb Pro billed annually costs about $1,260 over three years, Ahrefs Lite billed annually $3,870, and SiteAuditLint Pro $99 once. Ahrefs also includes research tools the crawlers do not.
